Japan Trip - May 2014

First day in Japan. Priorities dictate we must visit Ghibli Museum. Unfortunately no pictures were allowed inside the museum.

A friendly cat in a bag we ran into on our first day in Japan.

Bento Box lunch on the Shinkansen from Tokyo to Osaka
Asha doing her best Meowth impersonation at the Pokemon store in Osaka.
Dotonbori in the early evening.

Asha feeding some rabbits on Okunoshima.
The one that got away.
The abandoned gas factory used during World War II to produce chemical weapons. The aforementioned rabbits are the offspring of the test subjects.
Inside the factory.
Another photo from inside.
A deer resting on Miyajima Island.
A view of the tori gate from the hills.
A deer that really wanted something to eat.
A Bomb Dome in Hiroshima.
Soda flavoured soft serve.

Kinkakuji.

The gardens at Nijo Castle.
The best restaurant marketing I've ever seen.
I didn't take enough time to figure out what this guy is but I struck a pose none the less.
Kamo River in Kyoto in the early evening.

Todaiji in Nara. The largest wooden building in the world.

Buddha and a friend.
Mt Fuji from the Shinkansen. I'm glad it was a clear day.
Seeing sumo was one of the best things we did. It's one of those experiences that reminds me how Japanese Japan is. Doesn't matter how much the world gets more interconnected some things will always be Japanese.

Asha getting her nails done Samurai Pizza Cat style.

One of the many specimens at Meguro Parasitological Museum in Tokyo.

Visiting Japan and Asha not frequenting a Cat Cafe was non negotiable.

Riding the tallest rollercoaster in Japan was a non negotiable for me. It definitely made up for the 90 min wait before riding.

Toho studios. Home to the best Samurai films ever made and GODZILLA.

Last minute souvenir shopping.
